Join us for the Memphis Songwriters Series, hosted by Memphis songwriter Mark Edgar Stuart. Mark and his musical guests take audiences on a journey behind the music, sharing personal stories and introducing exciting new works.

This experience lifts the veil on Memphis’ longstanding songwriting tradition for music fans of all genres to enjoy. Each Songwriters Series performance features three of Memphis’ own seasoned musicians.

Meet the Songwriters

Hannah

Hannah Blaylock

Hannah Blaylock is an award-winning Country & Americana singer/songwriter. She released her first solo LP, Bandit Queen, in Austin, TX with award winning producer Martin Strayer & The Chicks in 2017 and has just released another LP The Fall & Rise that has had top charting streaming placement success.

She has had an extensive touring career making 20+ appearances on The Grand Ol’ Opry, embarking on 4 major national country music tours opening for artists such as Little Big Town, Blake Shelton, Reba McEntire, Lady Antebellum, Brad Paisley & Rascal Flatts.

As a songwriter she has had cuts such as Reba McEntire’s Grammy-nominated album title track “Stronger Than the Truth”, Sunny Sweeney’s #2 Americana charting album title track “Married Alone” (duet with Vince Gill), and top 20 charted hit single “Amen” which she also sang and performed in her former band, Edens Edge.


Rice Drewry

Born and raised in Memphis, Rice Drewry has been playing guitar and writing songs for over thirty years, drawing inspiration from artists like The Beatles, James Taylor, and Al Green. He has played in several bands, including the Tumblin' Sneakers, which released a self-titled album in 1999. A long-time member of the Memphis Songwriter Association, Rice has honed his songwriting while performing at various venues, including the renowned Bluebird Café in Nashville. His solo albums, When You Smile and Thousand Shades of Gray, were both produced by the late Memphis music icon Jack Holder. Notably, his single “When They Were Young” honors WWII veterans and is currently featured with the organization Forever Young Senior Veterans.

In 2013, Rice released his third album, Rhythm of the Rain, with his band Six Degrees, followed by The Mamba Box in 2014 and Rice Drewry & 3 Degrees in 2015. He also released the EPs Crisis in the Chakras in 2017 and Way Out Here in 2019, the latter inspired by a tour through Texas. His most recent album, released in December 2022, featuring a co-write with bandmate Dave Bodkin on “This Moment Matters Most” and with Donna Hansom on “Cross That Line.” It also includes the award-winning song “Whirlwind.” Rice continues to perform live with 3 Degrees and his six-piece band, the Rice Drewry Collective, playing a mix of original songs and popular covers.


Raneem Imam

Raneem Imam is an Arab-American singer, songwriter, and producer from Memphis, Tennessee. Her stylistic influences are a diverse mix of R&B, pop, and alternative genres, and she considers herself to be a genre-bending songstress who is passionate about exploring the endless opportunities of the creative process.

She has worked at recording studios around Memphis such as royal studios, young avenue sound, music + arts, and magnetic recording studio. Since the debut of her single “wise up” in 2018, she’s written and released multiple records leading up to her 2021 debut extended play album “peace of mind” which has garnered her more support and attention in the Memphis music scene and beyond.

As a writer, Raneem draws much inspiration from the unsaid and the unfelt emotions, fears, and experiences of life. From the production and creative direction to the lyrics and harmonies, she thrives on the adrenaline rush of creating music that is conscious and real to every one of our human senses.
