The National Civil Rights Museum is proud to present the distinguished honorees for the 34th Freedom Award, recognizing their exceptional contributions to civil and human rights.

The esteemed 2025 Freedom Award honorees are: MARC H. MORIAL, President and CEO of the National Urban League; VELMA LOIS JONES, a lifelong Memphian, trailblazing educator, civil rights leader, and community advocate; and MARK SUZMAN, CEO of the Gates Foundation.

The Freedom Award is a tribute to individuals who have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to advancing truth, equity, and justice in a time when these values are under threat. The Museum has a rich legacy of honoring distinguished civil and human rights leaders, including Coretta Scott King, Nelson Mandela, John Lewis, Oprah Winfrey, Stacey Abrams, and Spike Lee.

The Pre-Award Gala and Red Carpet will precede the award ceremony at 5:30 pm at the adjacent Halloran Centre. Tickets for the evening event are available via Ticketmaster. Event sponsorships are available. For sponsorship information or updates, visit freedomaward.org.
