About Close Encounters of the Third Kind

After an Indiana electric lineman witnesses a UFO, he becomes obsessed with a strange vision of a mountain-like formation, driving him to a cross-country quest for answers as a momentous encounter with extraterrestrial intelligence approaches.

Richard Dreyfuss stars as cable worker Roy Neary, who experiences a close encounter of the first kind - witnessing UFOs soaring across the sky. Meanwhile, government agents have close encounters of the second kind - discovering physical evidence of extraterrestrial visitors in the form of a lost fighter aircraft from World War II and a stranded military ship that disappeared decades earlier only to suddenly reappear in an unusual place. Roy and the agents follow the clues that have drawn them to reach a site where they will have a close encounter of the third kind - contact.

More Information

From 1940 until 1976, the Orpheum Theatre operated as a Malco presenting first-run movies on the big screen. Since Close Encounters of the Third Kind released in 1977, fans never had the chance to hear the iconic film-score reverberate in the gilded auditorium of the Orpheum Theatre until decades later when it was part of the Orpheum Summer Movies Series in 2002. Don't miss this unique opportunity—Get your tickets today!
